DESCRIPTION:“We must walk lightly when we are between worlds with this sacred being.”  – Phillip Cash Cash \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIndigenous peoples have long been in relationship with and shared stories about sacred forest protectors\, often called Sasquatch and Bigfoot. The works in this exhibition are made by Indigenous artists and honor generations of spiritual practices\, storytelling\, and tradition. Leave your preconceived notions behind and immerse yourself\, not in the question of if Sasquatch exists\, but rather\, how are we existing with and honoring this non-human other. \nThis exhibition will run from May 30\, 2025\, to January 4\, 2026\, at the Discovery Museum. \nCurated to align with the mission of World Forestry Center\, this exhibition was created in collaboration with these Indigenous artists and the High Desert Museum in Bend\, Oregon\, which featured the exhibition Sensing Sasquatch in 2024. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe exhibition is advised by and consists of original artwork by:  Phillip Cash Cash\, Ph.D. (Nez Perce\, Cayuse)\, HollyAnna CougarTracks DeCoteau Littlebull (Yakama\, Nez Perce\, Cayuse\, Cree)\, Charlene “Tillie” Dimmick (Warm Springs)\, Frank Buffalo Hyde (Nez Perce\, Onondaga) and Rocky LaRock (Salish)\, Greg Archuleta (Grand Ronde). \nLearn more about the exhibit here.

The works in this exhibition are made by Indigenous artists and honor generations of spiritual practices\, storytelling\, and tradition. Participants will share what they geek out about\, and how that can better the reality we find ourselves living in. \nThe event will feature a variety of activities and attractions\, including: \n\nLive entertainment throughout the day from local musical artists\, poets\, and performers.\nA barter bazaar where attendees can trade or sell handmade goods and crafts.\nA community hub connecting attendees with local wellness and resource groups.\nA dedicated gamer hub for questers.\n\nThis event is also a “backpack bazaar\,” with local artists and makers vending their creations. Attendees are encouraged to bring items to sell and trade\, as well as their own food and beverages to enjoy. \n  \nGeek Gate Galactica is a picnic for everyone\, with the goal of bringing together the unique and vibrant communities that make Portland special. It’s the perfect place to decompress from Rose City Comic Con and discover some of the hidden gems Portland has to offer. The event is free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:The 60th Mt Angel Oktoberfest — the largest folk festival in the Northwest — is September 11-14! The streets of Mt Angel become filled with celebration. Join in the German/Swiss festival and see why Mt Angel Oktoberfest is a Touch of Bavaria. \nThe Oktoberfest Kindergarten is a special place for familie. Open on Friday\, Saturday and Sunday of Oktoberfest from 11:00am to 5:00pm.\, Kindergarten is fun for families\, and fun that doesn’t even touch the pocket book; there is no admission\, no ride tickets; just come and enjoy! \nKid-friendly activities include:\n-A rock climbing wall\n-Wiener dog races\n-Arts and crafts\n-Live performances\n-Street dances\n-Rides\n-Plenty of traditional food and drink \nVisit the event host’s website for a full schedule of activities and performances. \nMost events at Oktoberfest are free. Families and individuals of all ages are welcome to attend concerts at the Bandstand and St. Mary Church at no cost. This includes the street dances on Friday and Saturday evening at the Bandstand. Just show up to be part of the fun! The Kindergarten has no admission and the activities and rides are all free\, compliments of Mount Angel Oktoberfest and our Kindergarten sponsors\, including K & E Excavating\, PGE\, and Wilco Farm Stores. The rides are offered by MADJEK Inc. The Cruz’n Car Shows on Saturday and Sunday are open to all comers to check out the wheels.
